Porchfest2010

The Second Annual Larchmere PorchFest takes place this Saturday, June 19th! Similar to last year, Larchmere PorchFest highlights local musical talent and shows off the Larchmere neighborhood! The FREE all-day event includes 20 bands playing a diverse range of music styles on 20 Larchmere area porches and patios. The event wraps up with a finale concert at Shaker Square, and additional music at Larchmere restaurants. To learn more about the event (including bands, event schedule and map) visit larchmereporchfest.org (created by our very own Erin Thom!) or join us on facebook. Hope to see you there!

At Studio Graphique many of us are fans of GOOD, an integrated media platform (they produce a website, videos, live events, and a print magazine) for people who want to live well and do good. Within Good’s most recent magazine issue, The Neighborhoods Issue, is an interview with Richard Florida, one of the world’s best-known urban theorists. His upcoming book, The Great Reset, examines how the economic crash will reshape the way we work and live. The article discusses what makes a neighborhood great, why small communities need more political power, and the transformation of American suburbs. You can view the article here, but this issue it is really worth picking up!
