Many of us here at SG really enjoy bike riding, and as it happens this past weekend my family and I took a bike trip along the Ohio & Erie Canalway Towpath Trail. It really is amazing to see how well preserved and beautiful this trail is, surrounded by forests, fields and wetlands. Visitors can walk or ride along the same path (that stretches from Cleveland to Akron) that the mules used to tow the canal boats loaded with goods and passengers.
At the Canal Visitor Center, Boston Store Visitor Center, Peninsula Depot Visitor Center or Hunt Farm Visitor Information Center you can talk to a park ranger, see exhibits and get information. This past weekend we saw a demonstration on how the canal boats traveled through a lock (at lock 39)!
For more information you can visit the National Park Service website or plan your visit at the Ohio & Erie Canalway website.
